SPA conducts cleanliness, anti-dengue activities in city areas

RAWALPINDI, Aug 31 (APP):Managing Director Suthra Punjab Agency (SPA) Rawalpindi Rana Sajid Safdar on Monday visited Union Council 21, Shamsabad, and inspected the ongoing zero-waste sanitation operation in the area.

During the visit, accompanied by Manager Operations District Rawalpindi Amir Younus Naik, Safdar inspected inner streets and reviewed cleanliness, waste removal and other sanitation activities.

He met sanitation workers, reviewed their performance and obtained information about the issues faced during field operations. He also interacted with residents and listened to their complaints and suggestions regarding cleanliness.

Safdar directed the concerned officers to ensure timely redressal of citizens’ complaints and make sanitation operations more effective. He said zero-waste operations should be accelerated and properly organised in inner streets, residential areas and every part of the city to prevent accumulation of garbage.

He said the scope of the Clean Punjab Programme was not limited to main roads and that keeping every street and neighbourhood clean was a priority.

Meanwhile, the SPA communication team conducted an anti-littering and anti-dengue awareness campaign in Magistrate Colony.

During the campaign, school girls and residents were sensitised about cleanliness, the harmful effects of littering and penalties for violations. They were urged to dispose of waste at designated places and keep their homes, streets and surroundings clean.

The team also sensitised citizens about dengue prevention and advised them to prevent stagnant water in and around their homes. Awareness pamphlets carrying information about Helpline 1139 for registration of sanitation-related complaints were also distributed.
