KOHAT, Aug 30 (APP): Kohat Police on Sunday conducted a district-wide general hold-up and launched a parallel crackdown against traffic violations on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal, aimed at maintaining law and order, preventing crime and curbing violations of traffic rules.
According to police, snap checking and blockades were established at entry and exit points, major roads and sensitive locations under the supervision of SHOs of all police stations in the district. Police teams checked suspicious vehicles, motorcycles and individuals and verified vehicle documents and identity papers.
During the operation, Ustarzai Police arrested three suspects and recovered 1,070 grams of hashish and two pistols from their possession. Cases were registered against the accused under relevant laws, while further investigation was underway.
Police said strict and indiscriminate action would continue against anti-social elements, drug dealers and persons involved in the illegal possession of weapons. The operation, officials said, was part of efforts to strengthen security and prevent criminal activities across the district.
Meanwhile, Kohat Traffic Police, under the supervision of SP Traffic Akbar Shinwari, intensified action against vehicles fitted with illegal tinted windows and displaying non-standard or fancy number plates.
During checking on major roads, several vehicles were fined or impounded under traffic laws. Traffic authorities urged motorists to remove unauthorized dark films and install standard government-issued number plates to avoid legal action.
