LAHORE, Aug 29 (APP):Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran has announced that he would hold an online open court every Sunday at 12 noon, enabling citizens to lodge their complaints directly through social media and telephone without travelling to police offices.
He said the initiative was aimed at providing citizens easy access to police authorities and saving them from repeated visits to offices for the redressal of their grievances.
According to spokesperson, citizens from far-flung districts also benefited from the DIG Operations’ open court, as two complainants from Sahiwal and Vehari appeared before him and presented their problems. The two applicants expressed hope that the DIG Operations himself would help resolve their issues.
DIG Faisal Kamran personally heard their complaints and contacted the relevant District Police Officers (DPOs), requesting them to extend cooperation and ensure that the citizens’ issues were resolved strictly on merit.
Citizens presented complaints regarding fights and disputes, financial transactions, fraud, harassment and other matters. All applications were marked to the Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) concerned for necessary action in accordance with law.
The DIG Operations said personally hearing citizens’ complaints and ensuring their redressal was the basic objective of the open court. “Citizens will be able to communicate their complaints directly to me from their homes through social media and telephone,” he said, adding that complaints received online would also be forwarded to the relevant police officers for necessary action.
