The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has arrested an IESCO Chakwal line superintendent red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs25,000 in bribe during a trap operation conducted under the supervision of a judicial magistrate in Chakwal.
Rs25,000 bribe lands IESCO Chakwal line superintendent in FIA trap
ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (APP): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has arrested an IESCO Chakwal line superintendent red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs25,000 in bribe during a trap operation conducted under the supervision of a judicial magistrate in Chakwal.
An FIA official told APP on Saturday that the Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) Islamabad carried out the operation on August 28 and arrested Sajid Farooq, Line Superintendent (LS-I), IESCO Chakwal, at the spot.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Judicial Magistrate Chakwal Farooq Ahmed, who recovered Rs25,000 in marked currency from the possession of the accused.
The recovered amount comprised five currency notes of Rs5,000 each, which had been paid by complainant Malik Zahid son of Gul Zaman.
The FIA registered FIR No. 42/2026 against the accused under Sections 109 and 161 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
The official said the possible role of other IESCO officers or employees would also be examined during the investigation and action would be taken in accordance with law if their involvement was established.
The trap operation was carried out by an FIA team comprising SHO Shehzad Khakwani, Inspector Asfandyar Khan, ASI Sohail and ASI Waseem.
The FIA Islamabad Zone reiterated its resolve to pursue elements involved in corruption and bribery in public institutions and bring them before the law.
