ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Shifa International Hospitals has achieved a major milestone in healthcare quality and patient safety, with multiple Shifa organizations and clinical programmes receiving recognition from Joint Commission International (JCI).
Shifa Enterprise has secured JCI Enterprise Accreditation, reinforcing the hospital group’s commitment to implementing consistent standards of quality, patient safety and clinical excellence across its facilities and services.
The achievement is further strengthened by the JCI Medical Transport Accreditation of Shifa Ambulance Service (SAS), making it the first ambulance service in Pakistan to receive the prestigious international accreditation.
The recognition marks a significant development for emergency medical and pre-hospital care in the country.
According to Shifa, the accreditation reflects its efforts to ensure that high standards of care begin from the earliest point of patient contact and continue throughout the healthcare journey, with emphasis on safety, professionalism, coordination and compassionate care.
The latest achievements build on Shifa International Hospitals’ JCI accreditation as an Academic Medical Center (AMC) in June 2026.
Meanwhile, eShifa, the hospital’s home healthcare company, has been recommended for JCI Home Care accreditation following a rigorous survey by JCI assessors.
Shifa has also secured international recognition for its clinical excellence, with its Acute Ischemic Stroke and Acute Coronary Syndrome programmes certified by JCI in June 2026.
The certifications recognize the hospital’s capacity to provide standardized, evidence-based and coordinated care in complex and time-sensitive medical conditions.
Shifa spokesperson described the achievements as a moment of immense pride for the organization and Pakistan’s healthcare community.
“We believe the JCI accreditation of Shifa Enterprise reflects our promise that wherever our patients encounter a Shifa service, they should experience the same commitment to trusted, safe, compassionate and evidence-based care,” the spokesperson said.
“We are especially proud that Shifa Ambulance Service has become the first ambulance service in Pakistan to achieve JCI accreditation. It is a historic achievement for SAS, Shifa and our country,” the spokesperson added.
Shifa said the collective recognitions go beyond individual accreditations and certifications, representing its broader commitment to strengthening a “Culture of Care” in Pakistan, where patient safety, quality improvement and evidence-based clinical practice remain central to healthcare delivery.
The hospital said the achievements demonstrate that internationally recognized, world-class healthcare can be developed and sustained in Pakistan while contributing to the advancement of healthcare standards across the region.
