MIH, Thai embassy hold free medical camp
ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Maroof International Hospital (MIH), in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy organised a medical camp at Hamara Ghar Welfare Trust in Shah Allah Ditta, providing free healthcare consultations, medicines and guidance to around 120 girls and children.
The camp which was held under MIH’s Community Support Programme and the Royal Thai Embassy’s voluntary community service initiatives, offered consultations in ophthalmology, paediatrics, general medicine, dental care, nutrition and dietetics, mental health and early intervention therapy, including specialised support for children with speech delays and developmental needs.
Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan, Rongvudhi Virabutr appreciated MIH for its humanitarian commitment and praised Hamara Ghar Welfare Trust for providing care, education and support to children who have lost their parents.
“Compassion becomes meaningful when it reaches those who need it most. Today’s initiative is not only about healthcare, it is about sharing care, dignity and hope with these wonderful children,” he said.
The ambassador also highlighted the importance of partnerships in promoting community wellbeing and presented gifts to the children.
MIH Chairman Ch. Naseer Ahmed reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to supporting the children beyond healthcare, saying the institution would also create opportunities for their professional development.
He announced that MIH would offer internship opportunities to Hamara Ghar children when they reach the appropriate stage, enabling them to gain practical experience, professional skills and confidence.
Chief Executive Officer MIH, Haroon Naseer appreciated the medical teams and staff for their dedication and encouraged the girls to focus on education and pursue their aspirations with confidence.
“Your circumstances may shape your journey, but they should never define your future,” he said, stressing that every girl deserved the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated and empowered.
Capt. (retd) Tariq Mehmood Satti, CEO of Hamara Ghar Welfare Trust, said the organisation was established in 2005 following the devastating earthquake and had since evolved into a safe and nurturing home for children affected by tragedy.
He said Hamara Ghar currently provided shelter, education, healthcare and other opportunities to around 500 girls, from the age of three through university.
The medical camp was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Her Majesty the late Queen Sirikit of Thailand and Thailand’s National Mother’s Day, with her legacy of compassion and public service providing a meaningful backdrop to the initiative.
The collaboration reaffirmed the shared commitment of MIH, the Royal Thai Embassy and Hamara Ghar to promoting girls’ health, dignity, education and empowerment.
