KP Chief Minister announces EV bikes scheme for women

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi has announced a series of eco-friendly transport initiatives, including an electric bike scheme for women, as the provincial government pushes forward with its agenda of sustainable development and public welfare.

PESHAWAR, Aug 28 (APP): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi has announced a series of eco-friendly transport initiatives, including an electric bike scheme for women, as the provincial government pushes forward with its agenda of sustainable development and public welfare.
Addressing the 57th Provincial Cabinet Meeting, the Chief Minister said the government was launching an EV bike scheme for sisters across the province. Under the initiative, college and university students as well as working women would be provided electric bikes purely on merit. The first phase of the scheme would commence soon, he added.
He emphasized that the EV bike project reflected the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and mobility. He directed officials to ensure complete transparency and merit-based distribution in the scheme.
In a major step toward promoting a clean and green environment, the Chief Minister also announced that an EV rickshaw scheme would be launched following the successful rollout of the bike project. He termed electric rickshaws an excellent initiative for reducing pollution and supporting eco-friendly transportation.
Furthermore, instructions have been issued to accelerate work on the electric bus scheme at all divisional headquarters across the province. The Chief Minister said these initiatives were part of a broader vision to modernize public transport and reduce carbon emissions.
The Chief Minister directed expediting work on all public-interest schemes included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP). He urged authorities to overcome bureaucratic hurdles and political negligence, calling for out-of-the-box measures to ensure timely completion of projects.
Sohail Afridi appreciated the performance of the Planning and Development (P&D) Department, acknowledging their excellent work, while stressing that progress on development projects should be further accelerated.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the current fiscal year would mark a turning point for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, declaring it a year of peace, development, and prosperity for the province.
