Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad expresses deep grief over loss of newborn babies in PIMS fire

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP):The Archbishop of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Dr. Joseph Arshad here on Friday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic loss of precious lives of newborn babies in the fire incident at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
In a statement isaued here, he said the tragic deaths of innocent newborn babies had deeply saddened everyone.
He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and conveyed his heartfelt condolences over their irreparable loss.
He said Pope Leo, the spiritual leader of the Christian community worldwide, had also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and conveyed his closeness and prayers to the bereaved families.
Pope Leo offered special prayers and solidarity for the affected families, the injured and all those affected by the tragedy.
Arshad prayed that Almighty God may grant eternal rest to the departed innocent children, give strength and courage to their grieving parents and families to bear this irreparable loss.
He also appealed the government and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that safety and security arrangements at hospitals were further strengthened to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
