Women’s rights, protection, empowerment discussed at meeting

Assistant Commissioner Dr Hamid assured the DCSW of the district administration’s full cooperation in initiatives aimed at ensuring a safe, respectful and supportive environment for women and girls.
He stressed the importance of creating greater awareness among women about their rights and available public services, besides promoting road safety and legal awareness.
Chairperson DCSW Humera Nawaz highlighted the need for stronger institutional coordination and practical initiatives to address issues faced by women in the district.
She said that awareness, protection and access to legal assistance were essential components of women’s empowerment and called for continued collaboration between the DCSW, district administration and other relevant stakeholders.
The meeting agreed to organize a traffic rules and road safety awareness workshop specifically for women and female students using scooters. The initiative would focus on traffic regulations, safe riding practices and responsible road use to help promote safer mobility for women.
The participants also agreed on the establishment of a legal desk at the District Bar, where women would be provided free legal guidance and assistance regarding matters related to their rights, protection and access to justice.
The meeting underscored the importance of joint efforts by government institutions and relevant stakeholders to strengthen mechanisms for women’s protection, enhance awareness of their legal rights and facilitate their access to essential support services.
Both sides expressed their commitment to continue coordinated initiatives aimed at promoting women’s rights, safety, awareness and empowerment across the district.
