BUREWALA, Aug 27 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Thursday seized 910 litres of counterfeit soft drinks bearing the names of well-known brands during a raid on a beverages unit in Zafar Colony on Chenon Road, Burewala.
The food safety team recovered the counterfeit beverages along with expired stock from the plant. The seized and expired products were subsequently destroyed, while the beverages unit was fined Rs70,000 for violating food safety regulations.
According to PFA officials, the operation was conducted on the directives of the Director General Punjab Food Authority as part of an ongoing crackdown against the production and sale of adulterated and counterfeit food products. The authority said such products posed a serious risk to public health.
The DG PFA said strict action would continue against elements involved in food adulteration and counterfeiting. He warned that those compromising citizens’ health would not be spared and vowed to further intensify enforcement operations across the province.
