Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by the Senate of Cambodia during the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC).

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP): Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by the Senate of Cambodia during the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC).

The luncheon was hosted by Neak Oknah Datuk Dr. Othsman Hassan Senior Minister Incharge of Special Mission of Royal Government of Cambodia.
The discussion at the luncheon focused on promoting peace, dialogue, and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Chairman Gilani underlined that his mission through the ISC is to advance peace in the world through parliamentary diplomacy and collective legislative action.
He noted that the Conference provides a vital platform for Speakers and Presiding Officers to build consensus on shared challenges and to foster understanding among nations.
Dr. (H.C.) Sultan Baktiar Najamudin, Speaker of the House of Regional Representatives of Indonesia*, was also present at the luncheon.
The Chairman Senate and the Indonesian Speaker exchanged views on matters related to the ISC agenda and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Delegates acknowledged the role of the ISC in bringing together legislative leadership to address issues of common concern.
They emphasized that sustained inter-parliamentary engagement contributes to peaceful resolution of disputes and to deeper regional connectivity.
Gilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the objectives of the ISC and expressed confidence that the 2nd Conference in Cambodia would further strengthen inter-parliamentary linkages and promote the cause of global peace.
Zaheeruddin Babar Thaheem, Ambassador of Pakistan to Cambodia, and Misbah Khar Advisor to the Chairman Senate and Ambassador to the ISC, MNA Shumaila Rana and Indonesian Senator Mirah Midadan Fahmid also attended.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani is scheduled to address a plenary session of the 2nd ISC and will hold further meetings with parliamentary leaders participating in the Conference.
