Fast bowler Aimen Anwar retires from Int’l cricket
LAHORE, Aug 26 (APP):Pakistan women’s fast bowler Aimen Anwar has announced her retirement from international cricket with immediate effect,the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a press release issued here on Wednesday.
Aimen represented Pakistan in eight One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 37 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) between July 2016 and February 2023.
She first emerged on the national cricket scene while representing Karachi U19 in the PCB National U19 Women’s Championship in January 2010.
Aimen earned her 37th T20I cap for Pakistan against England at Southampton in 2016 and made her ODI debut as Pakistan’s 76th ODI cap against Bangladesh in Colombo in 2017.
During her 45-match international career, she claimed four wickets in ODIs and 29 in T20Is.
She was part of the Pakistan women’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup editions held in 2018, 2020 and 2022-23, and also featured in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in New Zealand.
Following her playing career,Aimen has worked as a broadcaster.On Monday,she made her debut as a match referee in the ongoing National Women’s U19 Tournament after successfully completing an induction course for the role in January this year.
