Rawal Dam spillways open as water level rises

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP):The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday warned residents living along Korang Nullah to remain vigilant as the Rawal Dam’s water level reached 1,751.40 feet, prompting the opening of its spillways from 6 am to noon today, with increased water flow expected downstream.
The NDMA Media Wing said the opening of the spillways could lead to a rise in water flow in Korang Nullah, urging residents in adjoining localities to exercise caution.
The authority advised the public to avoid entering or crossing the nullah and temporary bridges built over it if the water flow becomes swift.
Residents in areas along Korang Nullah have been urged to remain alert and follow safety precautions to avoid any untoward incident amid the expected increase in water discharge.
