ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP):Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic fire incident in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad, which resulted in the loss of 14 newborn babies.
The Chairman Senate extended his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the parents and bereaved families of the deceased newborns.
Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic incident, he said that the heartbreaking loss of innocent lives has left everyone deeply saddened.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the bereaved families patience and strength to bear this irreparable loss.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized that effective safety measures, comprehensive fire-safety systems, and all necessary emergency response arrangements must be ensured in hospitals to prevent such tragic incidents.
He stressed that any negligence or lapse in safety measures, particularly where human lives are at stake, is unacceptable.
The Chairman Senate urged the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident and take effective and practical measures to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
