ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP):The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on August 26 constituted an eight-member fact-finding committee to investigate a fire incident that occurred in the Nursery of the MCH Ward at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The committee has been directed to submit its findings within 24 hours, with officials tasked to determine the cause of the fire and review the response to the incident.
According to a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad Capital Territory, the committee was formed to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident and identify factors that may have caused the fire and contributed to its spread.
The committee would be headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), ICT, and includes representatives from Capital Emergency Services, Islamabad Police, the Assistant Commissioner Industrial Area, CDA’s Engineering and Mechanical Wing, IESCO, and PIMS. The notification also allowed for the inclusion of any additional co-opted member if required.
Under its terms of reference, the committee has been directed to determine the exact cause of the fire, assess whether adequate and functional fire-safety measures were in place, evaluate the response time and effectiveness of rescue and firefighting operations, and examine any other relevant matter linked to the incident.
The report would be submitted to the concerned authorities within 24 hours
