Govt high-level team visit PBM HQ to strengthen support for vulnerable citizens
ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP):Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) is set to undergo a comprehensive review of its operations, human resource needs, budgetary constraints and administrative challenges, on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with a high level government team visiting its headquarters on Tuesday to assess institutional capacity and identify measures to strengthen and streamline welfare services for poor and vulnerable citizens.
The government team, comprising Federal Minister for Public Affairs Rana Mubashir Iqbal, State Minister for Power and Public Affairs Abdur Rehman Kanju, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Talha Burki and Additional Secretary PM Office Mohib Ali Phulpoto, held an extensive meeting with PBM Managing Director Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt and senior management.
The meeting reviewed PBM’s operational framework, achievements, institutional strengths and weaknesses, neglected and under-resourced areas, emerging requirements and future priorities.
PBM management briefed the visiting team on key challenges, particularly human resource requirements, budgetary constraints, administrative matters and operational capacity affecting the organisation’s ability to efficiently deliver its welfare mandate.
The team was also briefed on reforms recently undertaken by PBM to enhance transparency, accountability, efficiency and responsiveness.
The management highlighted the progress achieved through these measures and areas requiring further institutional support.
The discussions focused on practical and sustainable measures to strengthen PBM’s institutional structure and operational capacity, with particular emphasis on efficient utilisation of resources and uninterrupted delivery of assistance to deserving citizens.
The visiting team appreciated the reform oriented measures being undertaken by PBM and acknowledged its vital role in supporting millions of deserving people across the country.
The government team assured PBM management of full cooperation and pledged to take necessary measures to resolve the issues identified during the review.
The exercise is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen public institutions and improve the delivery of social protection services.
