Wrong way, risky wheels: ITP acts against over 1,200 traffic violators in August
ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has taken legal action against more than 1,200 road users during August, including over 200 one-wheelers and 1,000 motorists for one-way violations, as part of intensified enforcement against dangerous road behaviour.
An ITP official told APP on Tuesday that the action was being carried out on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Kainat Azhar Khan, who ordered strict enforcement under a zero-tolerance policy against one-wheeling and one-way violations.
The CTO Kainat said both violations posed a serious threat to the lives and property of citizens, adding that wrong-way driving could lead to traffic accidents while one-wheeling put young riders and other road users at risk.
She directed traffic police teams to further strengthen action against one-wheeling and ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws on major roads.
Kainat also appealed to parents to educate their children about the dangers of one-wheeling and discourage them from engaging in the risky practice.
She urged young motorcyclists to avoid one-wheeling and asked all road users to travel only in the designated direction.
The CTO Kainat said ITP was taking action against traffic violations without discrimination to ensure safer travel and better road discipline across the federal capital.
