Arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions finalized in Rawalpindi, strict compliance with code of conduct decided
RAWALPINDI, Aug 24 (APP):Arrangements for the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal central procession and other Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) processions and gatherings across Rawalpindi have been finalized, with the district administration, police, traffic police, Rescue 1122, municipal departments and the Central Seerat-o-Milad Committee completing security, traffic, sanitation, lighting and medical arrangements.
According to the Central Seerat-o-Milad Committee, musical parties and elements that could undermine the sanctity and dignity of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) will not be allowed to enter the procession. Milad parties will be permitted to bring small vehicles or rickshaws without sound systems, while those entering through designated entry points will be subjected to security checks before joining the procession in an organized manner.
The committee has appealed to women to arrange Milad gatherings at their homes instead of participating in the procession, keeping in view the large number of men expected to attend and to avoid any untoward situation. Sound systems at all stages will remain switched off during prayer timings.
The committee has urged the administration to ensure cleanliness, street lighting, special illumination, traffic management, medical camps and emergency medical facilities along the central procession route. It also proposed repair of hanging and hazardous electricity wires, removal of encroachments, improvement of green belts, use of fog or smog machines and arrangements for sprinkling rose water.
All Milad committees have been encouraged to participate in the central procession, while action has been recommended against elements violating the sanctity of the procession or causing disorder. Deployment of security personnel in double shifts along the route has also been recommended.
Deputy Commissioner Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir directed the concerned departments to complete all arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) processions and religious gatherings in a timely manner and ensure cleanliness, street lighting, traffic management and other basic facilities along the designated routes.
He said that an atmosphere of mutual unity, religious harmony and brotherhood would be maintained during Rabi-ul-Awwal as was done during Muharram. He stressed that the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was a highly sacred and blessed occasion, and therefore peace, discipline and mutual tolerance must be given priority.
The Deputy Commissioner urged members of the District Peace Committee and representatives of Milad committees to cooperate with the administration and law enforcement agencies and ensure strict observance of designated routes and the prescribed code of conduct.
Central Seerat-o-Milad Committee Vice Chairman Ghulam Ali Khan said the committee was making efforts to ensure that Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations in Rawalpindi were held with devotion, respect, discipline, peace and dignity.
He expressed hope that the district administration and law enforcement agencies would ensure implementation of the code of conduct and further strengthen religious harmony, unity, peace and brotherhood.
