Chief Justice engages bar delegations on judicial reforms, access to justice
ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Delegations of District Bar Associations of Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur and Sargodha, and High Court Bar Associations of Bannu and Bahawalpur called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan here at the Supreme Court on Monday and discussed issues relating to bar facilities, court infrastructure and access to justice.
The delegations apprised the Chief Justice of various issues concerning the legal fraternity, including provision of clean drinking water, solarization of court complexes, Women Facilitation Centres, bar rooms, plantation, internet connectivity, video-link and e-filing facilities, e-libraries and professional training opportunities for lawyers.
The Chief Justice, while discussing the ongoing judicial reform agenda, highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Supreme Court and the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC) to improve access to justice and enhance the efficiency and quality of judicial service delivery.
Particular emphasis was placed on provision of uninterrupted power supply, women-centric facilities, e-libraries and clean drinking water through the Access to Justice Development Fund.
The Chief Justice stressed the need to extend and strengthen such facilities, particularly in remote and underserved areas, and directed the concerned officers to coordinate with relevant authorities for resolving the issues raised by the bar delegations.
He also directed the officials to maintain liaison with the Forest Department for plantation drives.
The Chief Justice assured the bar representatives that their concerns would be carefully examined and addressed through coordinated institutional efforts.
He reiterated that the Bar was an important stakeholder in the justice system, adding that effective and efficient dispensation of justice required continued cooperation and constructive engagement between the Bench and the Bar.
