ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Federal Minister for Human Rights and Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar on Monday said the government was closely monitoring the investigation into the murder of Hina Javed and had taken immediate steps to ensure justice.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that as soon as the news of the incident emerged, he, in his capacity as Federal Minister for Human Rights, immediately contacted the Punjab government.
He said the ministry remained in constant contact with the Regional Police Officer and City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi regarding the investigation.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said two suspects had been arrested and were currently on three-day physical remand.
He said he had specifically directed Prosecutor General Punjab Irfan Sadiq to ensure that a special prosecution team was constituted to monitor the case personally and ensure that there was no lapse in the prosecution.
He expressed confidence that the culprits would be brought to justice.
The minister said the Ministry of Law and Justice and the Ministry of Human Rights would provide all possible assistance required by the Women Parliamentary Caucus committee.
He added that coordination was already underway with the Punjab Prosecution Department and Punjab Police to provide any information required by the committee.
Azam Nazeer Tarar assured that the case would be fully pursued and monitored until justice would be served.
