Speaker assures Women Parliamentary Caucus of full support in Hina Javed murder case
ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):National Assembly Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday expressed concern over the brutal murder of Hina Javed, assuring the Women Parliamentary Caucus of the National Assembly’s full support in monitoring the case.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Hina Javed had been posted in the National Assembly by the National Information Technology Board (NITB) on attachment from December 2019 until June this year.
The Speaker said that after the end of the programme, Hina Javed returned to her parent department.
He said that although such matters generally fell under provincial jurisdiction, the case was of particular concern because Hina Javed had served at the National Assembly.
The Speaker said the manner in which Hina Javed was murdered, and the violence against women, were matters of serious concern for everyone.
He appreciated the Women Parliamentary Caucus for taking up the matter and said the National Assembly would provide full support in monitoring the case and extending whatever assistance was required.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also proposed referring the matter to the Standing Committee on Interior and called for better coordination between the committee and the Women Parliamentary Caucus.
He further requested the Minister for Human Rights to take up the matter.
Before proceeding further, the Speaker asked Saira Afzal Tarar to lead a prayer for Hina Javed, who was brutally murdered.
