DC, Hyderabad Mayor Stress Joint Efforts to Prevent Dengue

HYDERABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon and Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Shoro jointly chaired a meeting on dengue prevention and control at the Mayor Secretariat here on Monday. DHO Hyderabad Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain, officers of relevant departments and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
The deputy commissioner stressed the need for inter-departmental coordination, regular monitoring and timely elimination of mosquito breeding sites to prevent the spread of dengue. He directed concerned officials to pay special attention to junkyards, tyre shops, nurseries, washing areas and under-construction buildings and ensure immediate removal of stagnant water.
Mayor Kashif Shoro directed that dengue awareness programs be organized at union council and town levels. He asked all relevant departments to effectively carry out fumigation, larva control and other preventive activities in accordance with the prescribed SOPs.
He also directed that larva control and spraying activities at 44 identified dengue hotspots be continued on a priority basis.
DHO Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain briefed the meeting on the current dengue situation and ongoing preventive measures. He said monitoring of identified hotspots and mosquito breeding sites was continuing.
He added that dengue awareness banners had been installed at public and private hospitals, while a central monitoring system had been activated to ensure daily elimination of stagnant water, spraying activities and monitoring of patients admitted to hospitals.
The meeting stressed effective coordination among all relevant departments and adoption of a joint strategy to prevent and control dengue in Hyderabad.
