ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP):Reports of a lion being spotted in Saidpur Village prompted a visit by the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) rescue team.
After surveying the area, officials said they found no evidence of a lion, including footprints or any other signs indicating the presence of the animal. The team has, however, remained on alert and continues to monitor the situation.
According to the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, the rescue team conducted a detailed inspection of the area following information received about a possible lion sighting in Saidpur Village. During the search, wildlife officials examined locations where the animal was reportedly seen and looked for physical evidence that could confirm its presence.
The IWMB stated that no footprints, tracks, or other indicators of a lion were found during the operation. Officials also reported that the carcass of a pet dog, which had allegedly been killed by the animal, was not recovered despite efforts to locate it.
The board said that, based on the findings so far, there is no confirmation that a lion was present in the area. However, rescue personnel are continuing to observe the situation and are prepared to respond if any new information emerges.
The IWMB reminded residents that Margalla Hills National Park is the natural habitat of the common leopard, a species that is known to inhabit the region. Wildlife officials stressed the importance of reporting sightings of wild animals promptly so that trained teams can assess the situation and take appropriate action.
Residents have been advised not to approach or attempt to capture any wild animal if spotted. Instead, they should immediately inform the relevant authorities.
