LAHORE, Aug 21 (APP): Citizens have appreciated the Lahore Police initiative of holding open courts, saying the direct interaction with senior police officers provides an effective platform for immediate hearing and redress of their grievances.
DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran heard complaints of citizens during an open court and issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned police officers for resolving their issues in accordance with the law.
Citizens brought forward complaints related to inheritance disputes, harassment, domestic issues, fraud, threats and illegal occupation. The DIG directed the concerned station house officers (SHOs) to take immediate legal action on complaints falling within the ambit of law and submit progress reports.
He also instructed police officers to give priority to complaints submitted by women, elderly citizens and persons with disabilities, ensuring that they were treated with respect and provided timely assistance.
Faisal Kamran said the primary objective of Lahore Police was not merely to register cases but to ensure timely justice and relief to victims. He directed that cases involving cognizable offences be registered without any delay and warned that negligence in addressing citizens’ complaints would not be tolerated.
The DIG said he personally listened to public complaints six days a week from 1pm to 3pm, providing citizens with an opportunity to directly approach him with their problems.
Citizens present at the open court appreciated the DIG Operations for personally listening to their complaints and issuing immediate directions for their resolution. They said such initiatives helped bridge the gap between the police and the public and strengthened their confidence in the police department.
Several citizens expressed satisfaction over the prompt response of the senior police officer and said that the open court provided them with an accessible platform where their grievances could be heard without unnecessary delays.
They particularly appreciated the priority given to complaints of women, senior citizens and vulnerable people, saying that direct access to senior police officers could help ensure greater transparency and accountability in the resolution of public complaints.
The citizens also welcomed the DIG’s decision to hold regular public complaint sessions and said that continuation of such initiatives would further improve public trust in Lahore Police.
The DIG assured the citizens that every legitimate complaint would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law and that police officers responsible for unnecessary delay or negligence would be held accountable.
