FAISALABAD, Aug 20 (APP):Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh said that the opening of Google’s first physical office in Pakistan could turn the country’s vast digital potential into a more organized economic force, unlocking new opportunities in technology exports, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital payments and global freelancing.
Welcoming the establishment of global technology giant’s physical presence in Pakistan, he said that the move reflected growing international confidence in the country’s technology sector and could significantly accelerate pace of the country’s digital transformation.
He said that Pakistan had the potential to earn billions of dollars through its expanding digital economy in the coming years, but achieving that potential would require stronger collaboration between global technology companies, local businesses, startups, educational institutions and the government.
He said that Google’s direct presence in Pakistan was fully aligned with national efforts to digitize the economy and expand technology exports, urging the business community to make full use of the opportunities emerging from the development.
The FCCI President said that local brands and digital marketing agencies would particularly benefit from direct access to Google’s ecosystem, enabling them to improve the effectiveness of online advertising campaigns, enhance business performance and generate better returns on digital investments.
He said that Pakistani businesses could also benefit from Google Cloud services locally, helping them improve data management, compliance and the speed and efficiency of digital operations.
The development could prove especially significant for small and medium-sized enterprises as access to modern digital tools, training and technical resources would help them shift their businesses online and reach customers beyond Pakistan, he added.
He said that larger Pakistani enterprises could also establish more direct engagement with Google to explore artificial intelligence-based solutions and develop software tailored to their specific business requirements.
He said that Google’s wider ecosystem could further facilitate the development and adoption of digital payment systems and financial inclusion applications, opening new avenues for businesses and consumers while supporting the expansion of a more digitally connected economy.
He said that startups and women entrepreneurs stood to gain considerably from the initiative particularly through the creation of new employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in technology-driven sectors.
The FCCI President also stressed the importance of skills development, saying expanded training programs could equip Pakistani developers, freelancers and students with advanced expertise in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
He said that local entrepreneurs and startups could also benefit from access to Google experts, incubation programs and international funding networks, helping promising businesses move from the early development stage to global markets.
He said that Pakistan’s large freelance community could gain from specialized resources and support aimed at protecting and increasing their earnings, securing better-paying international contracts and expanding their services in the global digital marketplace.
He expressed the hope that Google’s physical presence would not remain limited to corporate operations but would evolve into a broader platform for technology transfer, skills development, entrepreneurship and international market access, enabling Pakistani businesses and young professionals to convert digital capabilities into sustainable economic opportunities.
