LAHORE, Aug 20 (APP): City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has intensified a crackdown on government and semi-government vehicles with outstanding e-challans, arresting a government double-cabin vehicle in Garhi Shahu with pending fines amounting to Rs96,000.
According to Lahore Traffic Police, Traffic Officer Irfan Qureshi checked the e-challan record of the double-cabin vehicle and found Rs96,000 in outstanding fines. The vehicle had violated traffic signals nine times, lane-line rules six times and seat-belt regulations seven times.
The government vehicle was released after payment of the outstanding fine, the traffic police said.
Traffic Police has also sent letters to government departments whose vehicles have outstanding e-challans, asking them to clear the pending fines.
The police said e-challans were being issued with the help of ANPR cameras for more than 20 types of traffic violations across Lahore.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi urged citizens to follow traffic laws to avoid e-challans and ensure road safety.
