ITP tightens road discipline in August: 44,078 vehicles, motorcyclists face action; 6,502 impounded

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has intensified enforcement of traffic laws across the federal capital during August, taking legal action against 44,078 vehicles and motorcyclists, while 6,502 vehicles and motorcycles were impounded at different police stations over violations.
An ITP official told APP on Thursday that the ongoing enforcement drive was aimed at ensuring uniform implementation of traffic laws, improving road discipline and providing safer travel to citizens.
The official said ITP also took action against 29,353 vehicles and motorcyclists for various traffic violations during the campaign.
Police registered 544 cases over serious traffic violations, reflecting stricter enforcement against motorists involved in offences posing risks to road users.
Alongside enforcement, ITP continued its road-safety education campaign and provided awareness about traffic laws and safe driving practices to 72,737 citizens and students during the month.
The official said enforcement and public awareness were being carried out simultaneously as responsible road behaviour remained essential for reducing accidents and improving traffic discipline.
