Food Group Exports Rise 2.47pc in July

Food group exports from the country increased by 2.47 percent during the first month of the current financial year compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (APP): Food group exports from the country increased by 2.47 percent during the first month of the current financial year compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
During July 2026, food commodities worth $437.078 million were exported, compared with exports of $426.555 million recorded in July 2025.
Rice exports registered a significant increase of 19.15 percent during the month under review. The country exported 346,024 metric tons of rice worth $199.950 million, compared with 293,166 metric tons valued at $167.183 million in the same month of the previous year.
Fish and fish preparations exports also increased slightly in value. The country earned $22.544 million from the export of 11,568 metric tons of fish and fish preparations, compared with exports of 11,738 metric tons worth $22.447 million in July 2025.
Tobacco exports witnessed a substantial growth of 72.55 percent during the month. A total of 2,334 metric tons of tobacco, valued at $6.861 million, were exported in July 2026, compared with 1,292 metric tons worth $3.976 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.
Spices exports increased by 9.95 percent in July 2026, reaching 2,905 metric tons valued at $7.426 million. Meanwhile, exports of oilseeds and nuts surged by 493.70 percent to $24.898 million during the month under review.
Meat and meat preparations exports rose by 16.20 percent during July 2026. The country exported more than 8,963 metric tons of meat and meat preparations worth $47.001 million, compared with 9,141 metric tons valued at $40.449 million in the same month of the previous year.
