PESHAWAR, Aug 19 (APP):As the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal begins, preparations for Eid Milad-un-Nabi are taking place across Pakistan. Streets, homes, mosques, markets and public buildings are being decorated with green flags, buntings and lights to mark the occasion associated with the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In Peshawar, several prominent buildings, including the historic Mohabbat Khan Mosque, have been decorated and illuminated. Religious gatherings and other programmes are also being arranged in different parts of the country.
Educational institutions are preparing Seerah programmes, debates and other activities focusing on the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Organizers say these activities aim to help young people learn about his teachings and character.
Religious scholars and academics said the occasion also provides an opportunity to reflect on values associated with the Prophet’s (PBUH) life, including mercy, forgiveness, justice, patience, honesty and compassion.
Maulana Tayab Qureshi, Chief Khateeb of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said the Prophet’s (PBUH) life provides guidance on dealing with social challenges and promoting compassion and justice.
Dr. Shafat Shah, Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at Islamia College University, Peshawar, said the Prophet (PBUH) demonstrated different roles as a leader, teacher, family member and neighbour. He said his teachings emphasized social justice, education, ethical conduct, family values and respect for human dignity.
He also highlighted the Prophet’s (PBUH) emphasis on caring for vulnerable groups, including the poor, orphans and widows, and promoting the rights and dignity of women.
Dr. Abdul Ghafoor, former Chairman of the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre at the University of Peshawar, described the Prophet’s (PBUH) Farewell Sermon as an important source of guidance on human dignity and social responsibility. He said the sermon emphasized justice and the rights of women, orphans and other vulnerable people.
Scholars noted that the Prophet’s (PBUH) life and teachings continue to be studied in academic and religious settings, including discussions on leadership, ethics, conflict resolution and social responsibility.
They said Rabi-ul-Awwal celebrations can also provide an opportunity for parents, teachers and community leaders to introduce younger generations to values such as truthfulness, patience, mercy, justice and service to others.
As cities and towns across Pakistan are decorated for Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the occasion is being observed through religious gatherings, educational activities and community events. For many Muslims, it is also a time to reflect on the teachings and values associated with the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
