University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has planted 15,000 saplings across the campus and city under the national plantation drive as part of its efforts to promote a greener Pakistan and help mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change.

FAISALABAD, Aug 19 (APP): University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has planted 15,000 saplings across the campus and city under the national plantation drive as part of its efforts to promote a greener Pakistan and help mitigate the adverse impacts of climate change.
In connection with National Tree Plantation Day, a ceremony was arranged by Department of Forestry and Range Management, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) in collaboration with the Punjab Forest Department and UAF Gardening Wing at Pak Korea Nutrition Center.
The initiative aims to enhance the university’s green cover, promote environmental sustainability and create greater awareness about the importance of trees in combating climate change.
Dean Food Sciences UAF Dr Imran Pasha called for sustained plantation and proper care of saplings to ensure their survival, stressing that tree plantation should be followed by effective maintenance and protection of newly planted trees.
Chairman Forestry UAF Dr Fahad Rasheed said that plantation of 15,000 saplings was a practical step towards strengthening the university’s green cover and contributing to national efforts to address climate change.
He said that plantation alone was not enough and called for proper care and protection of the saplings to ensure their survival.
He said that the university would continue to promote tree plantation and environmental awareness among students and the wider community.
Conservator of Forests Punjab Dr Naseem Butt said that tree plantation was one of the most effective nature-based measures to address the growing challenges of climate change, environmental degradation and rising temperatures.
He appreciated the UAF initiatives that would make a meaningful contribution to increasing the country’s green cover.
Dr Issa Khan, Dr Atif Randhawa, Dr Ahmad Sattar, Dr Muhammad Irfan, Dr Ahsan, Dr Adnan Younas, Deputy Conservator of Forests Rana Shahid Nasim, Dr Muazzam Rafiq Khan, Dr Nadeem Abbas, Umar Saeed Qadri, Dr Asif and other faculty members attended the plantation activity.
