Minister chairs meeting to discuss affairs of Swat hospitals

PESHAWAR, Aug 19 (APP): Provincial Minister for Health, Khaleeq ur Rehman on Wednesday chaired a meeting to discuss matters relating to Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals, Central Hospital Saidu Sharif, and District Headquarters Hospital Swat.
The meeting was held in Conference Room of Commissioner Malakand Division Saidu Sharif, Swat and attended by Member Provincial Assembly, Fazal Hakeem Khan Yousafzai, Commissioner Malakand Division Masood Ahmad, Secretary Health KP, Fayaz Ali Shah, Director General Health Dr. Naeem Awan, Dean Medical Teaching Institute (MTI) Swat Prof. Dr. Israr-ul-Haq, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Muhammad Saleem, DHO Swat and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail various matters concerning Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals, Central Hospital Saidu Sharif, MTI Swat and District Headquarters Hospital Swat.
Relevant officials briefed the Provincial Health Minister on the healthcare facilities being provided to patients, administrative affairs, hospital performance, provision of medical services and other key initiatives.
Addressing the meeting, the minister said that provision of quality and timely healthcare services to patients was top priority of the provincial government. He said all decisions regarding the health sector would be taken through consultation, transparency and keeping ground realities in view.
He directed the administrations of MTI Swat and District Headquarters Hospital Swat to consult and prepare a practical plan covering improved patient care, administrative matters, effective utilization of resources and other relevant issues.
The plan, he directed, should be submitted to health department for further consideration and necessary action.
The minister also directed to form a committee to comprehensively review all related matters and submit transparent, fair and workable recommendations.
He said that holding the meeting in Swat was aimed at reviewing the issues faced by local population and taking practical measures in light of ground realities.
He directed the concerned authorities to adopt a coordinated strategy to further improve patient facilitation, quality of medical services and overall performance of the hospitals.
He reiterated that the government’s objective was to strengthen the healthcare delivery system and ensure better, effective and quality services for people of Swat.
