MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 19 (APP):The Safe City Authority was set to expand its surveillance network to the union council level in Muzaffargarh, with cameras to be installed soon across the district to further strengthen public safety and help curb crime.
DSP Safe City Authority Tariq Sattar, while addressing a press conference at the Safe City Authority office here, said cameras would soon be installed in the district’s union councils as well as the tehsils of Jatoi and Alipur.
He said the successful installation of Safe City cameras at all district headquarters across Punjab had contributed to a decline of up to 90 percent in crime, adding that the authority was now expanding its network to all tehsils and union councils across the province.
The expansion in Muzaffargarh would further strengthen the ability of police, the Crime Control Department (CCD) and other law-enforcement agencies to prevent and respond to criminal activity, he added.
DSP Sattar said the Safe City Authority was also implementing several public-safety initiatives, including the Virtual Women Police Station, Virtual Centre for Child Safety and Virtual Blood Bank. A Public Safety App had also been launched to provide immediate assistance to persons with hearing and speech impairments.
He appealed to citizens to register themselves as volunteers with the Virtual Blood Bank so that blood donations could be arranged for maximum numbers of people in need.
Regarding e-challans, the DSP urged citizens not to view the system as a source of inconvenience, explaining that its primary purpose was to save lives, promote compliance with traffic laws and encourage responsible driving.
He further said the Safe City Authority’s “Mera Pyara” mobile application had received an international award in Switzerland, while Managing Director Safe City Authority Punjab Ahsan Younas would be conferred the civil award Sitara-i-Imtiaz on Pakistan Day in recognition of his services.
District Manager Safe City Authority Muhammad Rizwan and Assistant Manager Nabeel Safdar were also present at the press conference.
