LDA governing body approves Rs. 88.613bln budget for 2026-27

LAHORE, Aug 19 (APP):The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) governing body, chaired by Vice Chairman Mian Marghoob Ahmad, on Wednesday approved the LDA budget for the financial year 2026-27 along with several other important agenda items.
Parliamentary Secretary for Housing Barrister Sultan Bajwa and Vice Chairman WASA Chaudhry Shahbaz attended the sixth meeting of the LDA governing body, while Director General LDA Tahir Farooq briefed participants on various agenda items.
A total budget of Rs. 88.613 billion was presented for the LDA and Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) for fiscal year 2026-27. The LDA’s revenue target was set at Rs. 47 billion.
The governing body allocated Rs. 10 billion as a loan from the Punjab government for structure plan roads and Rs. 6.3 billion for Annual Development Programme (ADP) schemes. A budget of Rs. 12.5 billion was allocated for development works in LDA City, Rs. 13.5 billion for sustainable development and urban regeneration, and Rs. 4 billion for LDA Avenue 1.
The meeting approved a Rs. 3.5 billion budget for TEPA for 2026-27 and amendments to the LDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2019.
A revenue target of Rs. 17 billion was set for LDA Town Planning, while a target of Rs. 19.2 billion was fixed for Sales and Allotment, including Rs. 15 billion from LDA City.
The governing body also approved a pilot project for imposing maintenance charges and providing improved sanitation and other municipal services in LDA Avenue 1, Jubilee Town and LDA Enclave. Under the plan, maintenance charges will be levied on residential and commercial properties measuring 3, 5, 7 and 10 marlas and one kanal. LDA will provide services free of charge for the first two months in the three schemes.
The meeting approved development and marketing of commercial plots on 118 kanals of land along Ferozepur Road near Arfa Karim Tower for a proposed LDA Tech Park. The authority will offer one-kanal, 15-marla and 8-marla commercial plots.
An allocation of Rs. 100 million was approved for initiatives during the current financial year aimed at making Lahore a child-friendly city in collaboration with UNICEF.
The governing body also approved the launch of a new Pine Sector in LDA City, comprising commercial plots of different sizes and one-kanal residential plots. A detailed briefing was given on the revenue-generation plan for LDA City. The meeting also approved installation of solar lights in various blocks of LDA City and several agenda items of the LDA Sales and Allotment Directorate.
The governing body appreciated DG LDA Tahir Farooq and his team for their performance in revenue generation during the previous financial year. The meeting was informed that LDA had achieved a record revenue target of Rs. 32 billion last year for the first time in its history.
Members of the Governing Body, including Member Technical Akbar Sheikh and Member Technical Abdul Hanan, representatives of the Finance, Housing, Local Government and WASA departments and the Commissioner Office, as well as senior LDA, TEPA and Housing officials, attended the meeting.
