SPA teams maintain drainage, sanitation operations amid heavy rain

RAWALPINDI, Aug 19 (APP): Field teams of the Suthra Punjab Agency (SPA), Rawalpindi, continued drainage and sanitation operations during heavy rain, with additional personnel deployed in low-lying areas.
According to an SPA spokesman, teams continued opening drains and water channels, cleaning square drains, collecting waste and lifting garbage despite the rain, while officers and field staff monitored the situation in different areas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters), Rawalpindi, Maleeha Sahar, along with Manager Operations, SPA, Syed Hassan Sardar, visited various low-lying areas during the rain and reviewed drainage and sanitation arrangements.
They inspected the ongoing field operations and directed workers to remain alert and provide all possible assistance to citizens. They also instructed them to prioritise opening blocked drains, removing obstructions from water channels and clearing accumulated waste.
Managing Director SPA, Rana Sajid Safdar said providing relief to citizens during rainfall and maintaining an uninterrupted drainage system were the organisation’s top priorities.
He said additional personnel and machinery had been deployed in the field and all relevant teams were working in close coordination. Despite the rain, waste collection and lifting operations continued without interruption to prevent the accumulation of garbage on roads, streets and low-lying areas and ensure smooth drainage.
Safdar directed field officers and workers to keep a close watch on low-lying areas during the rain and take immediate action in case of any emergency.
