The agreement provides a framework for joint academic, research and community-based initiatives designed to strengthen cooperation between academia and the development sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Anwar said sustainable development required strong collaboration among educational institutions, civil society, policymakers and the private sector.
“Pakistan’s young population is a tremendous national asset. By creating meaningful opportunities for skills development, entrepreneurship, research and civic engagement, we can enable young people to contribute more effectively to inclusive economic growth and national development,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Saeed-ul-Hassan Chishti highlighted the importance of connecting university education with practical experience and contemporary development challenges. He said universities must go beyond conventional teaching by actively engaging students in research, innovation, practical learning and community service to prepare them for an increasingly competitive world.
Under the MoU, FGP and RLKU will collaborate on seminars, conferences, guest lectures, training programs, short courses, research studies, publications, internships, volunteer placements and community outreach initiatives.
The partnership will cover climate change, environmental sustainability, healthcare, green livelihoods, social entrepreneurship, inclusive prosperity, democratic governance, fundamental rights and civic responsibilities, gender equality, digital empowerment and life skills.
The two institutions may also undertake joint surveys and research projects, produce policy briefs and publications, and develop proposals for national and international donors and corporate social responsibility partners. Collaborative community initiatives may include climate and environmental education, literacy, water, sanitation and hygiene, and other programs serving surrounding communities.
Participants expressed confidence that the partnership would create valuable learning and professional development opportunities for students while encouraging innovative, community-driven responses to Pakistan’s emerging social, economic and environmental challenges.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to translate the MoU into practical initiatives that promote knowledge sharing, innovation and collaborative action for a more inclusive, prosperous and sustainable Pakistan.
