National Women’s U19 Tournament to begin from Thursday

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (APP):The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the dates and squads of the upcoming National Women’s U19 Tournament 2026-27 which is set to take place from Thursday, August 20 to, September 4 at NBP Sports Complex and HPC Oval Ground in Karachi.

A cohort of 75 U19 players from across the country is set to take part in the tournament comprising of five teams – Conquerors, Challengers, Strikers, Stars and Invincibles. Pakistan women’s U19 captain Fizza Fiaz along with Samiya Afsar, Ravail Farhan, Komal Khan and Zoofishan Ayyaz are set to lead the teams, said a press release.

The teams assembled in Karachi on Sunday, August 16 and will train on August 17, 18 and 19. In order to increase competitive game time for the U19 players, the PCB has divided the tournament into two legs with the first comprising of 30-over games with teams playing four each. The second leg will be of 20-over games with the final also set to be a T20.

Each team will play a total of eight games in the double-league round robin stage before the top two meet in the September 4 final. The venue for the final will be announced in due course.

A number of players were selected via trials conducted by the women’s national selection committee across the country, while the players who were part of the Pakistan women’s U19 squad in the five-match T20 series against South Africa will also be in action during the tournament.

The tournament will prove beneficial in developing the next crop of professional women’s cricketers in Pakistan but will also help finalise the pool for the upcoming important assignments that include the ACC women’s U19 Asia Cup and the ICC women’s U19 World Cup.

The tournament will begin with the first leg of 30-over matches from August 20 to August 26.

On August 20, Invincibles will take on Stars at the NBP Sports Complex while Challengers face Conquerors at HPC Oval Ground. On August 21, Strikers will play Conquerors at NBP Sports Complex and Challengers will meet Stars at HPC Oval Ground. On August 23, Invincibles will face Strikers at NBP Sports Complex and Conquerors will play Stars at HPC Oval Ground. On August 24, Challengers will play Strikers at NBP Sports Complex and Invincibles will face Conquerors at HPC Oval Ground. The first leg concludes on August 26 with Stars taking on Strikers at NBP Sports Complex and Invincibles playing Challengers at HPC Oval Ground.

The second leg, featuring 20-over matches, will run from August 27 to September 2. On August 27, Invincibles will meet Stars at HPC Oval Ground and Challengers will face Conquerors at NBP Sports Complex. On August 29, Strikers will play Conquerors at HPC Oval Ground and Challengers will take on Stars at NBP Sports Complex. On August 30, Invincibles will face Strikers at HPC Oval Ground and Conquerors will play Stars at NBP Sports Complex. On September 1, Challengers will meet Strikers at HPC Oval Ground and Invincibles will play Conquerors at NBP Sports Complex. The league stage wraps up on September 2 with Stars versus Strikers at HPC Oval Ground and Invincibles versus Challengers at NBP Sports Complex.

The final between the top two teams will be held on September 4, with the venue to be announced. All matches throughout the tournament will begin at 9:30am PKT.
