ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (APP):Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Malik on Tuesday said tackling air pollution required coordinated national efforts, effective monitoring and reforms across key sectors to ensure clean and healthy air for citizens.
Addressing a stakeholder workshop on the National Clean Air Policy, the minister said air pollution was a major challenge to human health and environmental protection, making collective action at the national level imperative.
He said clean air was a fundamental right of every citizen, while effective monitoring and implementation of environmental standards were essential to improve air quality.
Dr Musadik Malik stressed the need for reforms in the industrial, transport and energy sectors to reduce air pollution. He said the government was taking steps to promote electric vehicles as part of efforts to improve air quality.
The minister said modern technology must be utilized to control air pollution, while promotion of clean energy could play a key role in reducing emissions.
He also highlighted the importance of creating public awareness about air pollution, saying it was a shared responsibility to ensure a clean and safe environment for future generations.
