Red Flags Installed along Harno Stream as district admin steps up flood safety measures

The district administration Abbottabad on Tuesday has intensified precautionary measures to protect the public from possible flooding amid forecasts of heavy rainfall and rising water levels.

ABBOTTABAD, Aug 18 (APP):The district administration Abbottabad on Tuesday has intensified precautionary measures to protect the public from possible flooding amid forecasts of heavy rainfall and rising water levels.
On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Muhammad Tariq visited Harno and inspected the enforcement of the ban imposed under Section 144 on entering streams and water channels.
Red flags were installed at prominent locations along Harno stream to warn residents, tourists and visitors of the extremely high flood risk.
The administration also launched an awareness drive, strictly advising tourists and residents to stay away from the stream, avoid entering the water, and keep away from areas vulnerable to flooding.
Officials said precautionary measures were being further strengthened to ensure timely public warnings and protect human lives and property in case of any emergency.
