Continuous reforms vital for sustainable economic growth: Saif ur Rehman

LAHORE, Aug 16 (APP): Coordinator to the Federal Tax Ombudsman Saif ur Rehman on Sunday said nations that embrace continuous and systemic change were better positioned to achieve sustainable economic growth and social progress in an ever-evolving global environment.

Addressing a seminar titled “State of Flux,” organised in collaboration with Zia Family Food Products here, he said rapid changes in global economies, technology and social dynamics required countries to strengthen their institutions and adopt best practices to remain competitive.

He said developed nations continuously reformed their policies and systems in response to changing circumstances, adding that people’s knowledge, work patterns, priorities and sources of income also evolved over time.

Referring to the Holy Quran, Saif ur Rehman said meaningful societal change begins with self-reform, citing the Quranic verse: “Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves” (Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:11). He added that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also introduced reforms that transformed society during his mission.

Describing change as a universal law of nature, he said continuous transformation was essential for growth, adaptation and long-term success in every sphere of life.

Saif ur Rehman said leading global companies had sustained their success for decades by continuously adapting to changing market conditions, consumer needs and technological advancements. He urged institutions and businesses to foster a culture of innovation and adaptability to ensure long-term competitiveness and national development.
