Youth summit in Naran concludes with call for greater role of young people in community development
NARAN, Aug 16 (APP):The Directorate of Youth Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with the Vibrant Perspective Youth Organization, organized a five-day youth engagement programme in Battakundi, Naran, to mark World Youth Day and Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Held from August 11 to 15 at the Youth Hostel Battakundi, the programme was attended by 88 young leaders and students from different parts of the country.
The programme focused on youth leadership, civic responsibility, social service, community development and environmental protection. Training and capacity-building sessions were conducted on youth empowerment, leadership and civic engagement.
Lead Trainer Alina Ashfaq and Advocate Bilal Khan conducted interactive sessions featuring discussions and practical activities aimed at developing leadership skills, a sense of responsibility and active citizenship among participants.
As part of the Independence Day celebrations, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Youth Hostel Battakundi, where participants expressed their patriotism and reaffirmed their commitment to national unity and service to Pakistan.
The participants also organized a cleanliness awareness walk in Battakundi under the Pakistan Cleanliness Drive, urging tourists and local residents to avoid littering and contribute to protecting the natural environment and scenic beauty of Naran Valley.
Various group activities were also held to promote teamwork, creativity, leadership and community engagement. Participants discussed ways in which young people could contribute to positive and sustainable change in their communities.
At the conclusion of the programme, participants appreciated the Directorate of Youth Affairs for providing opportunities for youth training, leadership development and social service.
The organizers said meaningful investment in youth skills and leadership was essential for Pakistan’s social development and sustainable future, adding that young people could become an effective force for positive change and national development when provided with appropriate platforms, training and opportunities.
