ISLAMABAD, Aug 16 (APP):The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced that China’s Guangdong Regional men’s hockey team will undertake a comprehensive tour of Pakistan from October 12 to 30.
According to the PHF, the tour is aimed at strengthening hockey relations between Pakistan and China, providing Pakistani players with consistent international-level competition, and promoting broader sports exchanges between the two countries.
During the visit, the Guangdong team will play a series of competitive matches against Pakistani departmental, institutional, and club teams at major hockey venues across the country, said a press release.
The scheduled matches are as follows: MPCL will face Guangdong on October 14 at the MPCL Hockey Stadium in Rawalpindi; Pak DS will meet Guangdong on October 15 at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad; Pakistan Navy will play Guangdong on October 17 at the same venue in Islamabad; Pak DS will take on Guangdong again on October 18 at Wah Cantt Hockey Stadium and on October 20 at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad. The tour will then move to Punjab, with Pakistan Customs playing Guangdong on October 23 at DHA Hockey Stadium, Lahore, followed by Pak DS vs Guangdong on October 24 at the Sports Complex in Narowal. The teams will meet again on October 26 at the National Hockey Stadium in Gojra and on October 27 at DHA Hockey Stadium, Lahore. An additional match is tentatively planned for October 29, with the venue and final confirmation to be announced later.
The Guangdong delegation is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on October 12 and will depart on October 30, 2026.
The PHF said that the extended tour will provide the Chinese regional team with valuable international experience, while giving Pakistani teams across different regions the opportunity to compete against strong opposition.
The Federation described the visit as a significant step toward expanding hockey cooperation between Pakistan and China, fostering regular international engagement, and creating more opportunities for players, coaches, and officials.
The PHF also expressed hope that the tour will help promote hockey domestically and broaden the scope of international matches beyond Islamabad and Lahore to include key hockey centers such as Rawalpindi, Wah Cantt, Narowal, and Gojra.
Further details regarding the Chinese delegation, match timings, and the proposed additional match on October 29 will be released by the PHF in due course.
