ITP diverts traffic around Jinnah Avenue for Independence Day parade, announces parking plan
ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP): Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Friday enforced special traffic diversions around Jinnah Avenue and Blue Area for the Independence Day parade, closing several approaches towards D-Chowk and Express Chowk while designating separate parking areas for participants.
An ITP official told APP that motorists had been advised to use designated alternate routes to avoid inconvenience during the parade.
The official said citizens attending the event should park their cars and motorcycles at Fazl-e-Haq Service Road, Blue Area, and Nazimuddin Road, Blue Area.
The route-wise diversions and alternate routes are as follows:
Diversion 1 — China Chowk to D-Chowk
Jinnah Avenue from China Chowk to D-Chowk will remain closed to traffic in both directions.
Motorists should use Fazl-e-Haq Service Road from China Chowk or Nazimuddin Road from D-Chowk as alternate routes.
Diversion 2 — Bazaar Chowk to Express Chowk
Traffic movement from Bazaar Chowk towards Express Chowk will remain closed.
Motorists should use Begum Sarfraz Road as the alternate route.
Diversion 3 — Embassy Road to Express Chowk
Traffic from Embassy Road towards Express Chowk will remain closed.
Motorists should use Luqman Hakeem Road as the alternate route.
Diversion 4 — Nazimuddin Road T-Cross towards Ayub Chowk
Traffic from Nazimuddin Road T-Cross towards Ayub Chowk will remain closed.
Motorists should travel from Super Market via China Underpass.
Diversion 5 — Secretariat Chowk to D-Chowk
The road from Secretariat Chowk towards D-Chowk will remain closed.
Motorists should use Margalla Road as an alternate route.
Diversion 6 — Radio Pakistan Chowk to D-Chowk
Traffic from Radio Pakistan Chowk towards D-Chowk will remain closed.
Motorists should use Aabpara, Suhrawardy Road, 7th Avenue and Margalla Road as alternate routes.
The official urged citizens to follow the traffic plan and cooperate with traffic police personnel deployed in the area to ensure smooth movement during the Independence Day celebrations.
