A national flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, on Friday to commemorate Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day. Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, along with Chairpersons and Directors of various departments, senior faculty members, officers, administrative staff and students, attended the ceremony.
QAU celebrates 80th Independence Day

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP): A national flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, on Friday to commemorate Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day. Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, along with Chairpersons and Directors of various departments, senior faculty members, officers, administrative staff and students, attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal said that the Independence Day celebration was an opportunity to renew the nation’s commitment to the principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline and to work collectively for a brighter, stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.

He said that Quaid-i-Azam University, established in the name of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was playing an important role in national development and progress through quality education, research and innovation.
The Vice Chancellor urged the youth to follow the principles and vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and contribute towards realizing the full potential of Pakistan. Addressing the students, faculty and employees, he said that Independence Day was a reminder of the sacrifices made by the forefathers and a call to action for everyone to play their part in the progress and prosperity of the country.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, a cake-cutting ceremony was held to mark the occasion. The Vice Chancellor also planted a tree, formally inaugurating the tree plantation campaign being launched by the Directorate of Estate and the Horticulture Cell as part of the University’s efforts to promote a greener and healthier campus. Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Student Affairs, student societies and clubs, and the administrative staff for organizing the Independence Day celebrations successfully.
