Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day celebrated with patriotic spirit at GHS Booni
PESHAWAR, Aug 14 (APP): Teachers, students and community members in Upper Chitral gathered with district officials at Government High School Booni to celebrate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with national songs, speeches, competitions and colourful display of national flag.
The event was jointly organized by HUJRA Village Support Organization (HUJRA VSO) and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), in collaboration with the District Administration Upper Chitral and District Education Office Upper Chitral.
The ceremony was presided over by Principal Government High School Booni Ahmed Wali Durrani, while District Education Officer Upper Chitral Mahmood Ghaznavi was the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Muhammad Imran Khan, ADC Moazzam Ali Bangash, DPO Upper Chitral Zia Hassan, President Ismaili Regional Council Upper Chitral Imtiaz Alam, DPO Investigation, Finance Officer Farzana, SDPO Upper Chitral Amin Shah, SDPO Mastuj Akbar Shah, Planning Officer Upper Chitral Shamsheer Ali Khan, Raja Zulfiqar Ali (ADO Sports), Youth Officer Upper Chitral Anees-ur-Rehman, President Trade Union Subedar Rahim Khan, Zakir Muhammad Zakhmi and other officials attended the ceremony.
The ceremony began with a flag-hoisting ceremony led by Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Imran Khan and other officials. Students presented a salute to the national flag and sang the national anthem, filling the venue with patriotic fervour.
In his welcome address, Principal Ahmed Wali Durrani warmly welcomed the guests and participants. Students presented Hamd, Naat, national songs and speeches in Urdu and English languages besides taking part in a quiz competition, showcasing their talent and patriotic spirit.
Students who secured outstanding positions in various competitions and those who achieved top positions in the recently announced Grade 9 and Grade 10 examination results were awarded trophies and certificates of appreciation by HUJRA VSO in recognition of their achievements.
Addressing the gathering, HUJRA representative Tasaur Hussain highlighted the achievements and contributions of HUJRA VSO and PPAF towards community development and welfare.
He said climate change would remain one of the major challenges in the coming years and stressed the need for urgent attention to tree plantation, environmental protection and climate-resilient initiatives.
Chief guest, Mahmood Ghaznavi said Pakistan was a great blessing from Almighty Allah and had been achieved through the countless sacrifices rendered by the forefathers of the nation.
He emphasized that it was the collective responsibility of every citizen to protect and safeguard the country and contribute to its progress, peace and prosperity.
In his concluding remarks, Principal Ahmed Wali Durrani thanked all distinguished guests, students and officials, particularly PPAF and HUJRA VSO, for their participation and continued support for educational and community-based initiatives.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for the integrity, stability, peace and prosperity of Pakistan.
