KARACHI, Aug 14 (APP): Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has extended warm greetings to the nation on the 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to all those, who sacrificed for Pakistan and to those, who continue to defend its freedom, sovereignty and dignity.
He said that Pakistan was achieved through the peaceful political struggle and unwavering determination of its people. “Our independence is a sacred trust, earned through sacrifice and sustained through courage, unity and commitment to the ideals for which Pakistan was created,” he said.
The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zaradri called upon the nation to renew its pledge to build a peaceful, prosperous, democratic and inclusive Pakistan.
He said that father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision of tolerance, peaceful political struggle, and federal democracy remains the nation’s guiding light; Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s people-friendly, worker-friendly and egalitarian philosophy, embodied in the 1973 Constitution, remains a guiding framework; and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s philosophy of reconciliation and resistance to authoritarianism remains a fundamental principle. He also paid tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari’s vision of national harmony, understanding, and Pakistan’s prosperity.
Bilawal said that national unity is Pakistan’s greatest strength. He described the international recognition following Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos as a matter of national pride and termed “Misaq-e-Makkah” a historic chapter in the military and strategic history of the Muslim world.
He said Pakistan’s destination is a prosperous, democratic, federal, and egalitarian state, where the people of all provinces and regions enjoy equal opportunity and dignity.
He reiterated PPP’s moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) people’s right to self-determination. ‘As a nation, we still have much to accomplish. Let us keep moving forward. We must build a Pakistan where democracy is strong, every citizen is equal, and no family is left behind,’ he added.
