DPM/FM Dar reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to peace, security, prosperity

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (APP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect among nations.

In a message on the occasion of 80th independence day of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar extended greetings to the people of Pakistan, overseas Pakistanis and all those participating in Independence Day celebrations.

Paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the deputy PM said the founding leader’s visionary leadership, determination and commitment transformed the demand for a separate homeland into reality.

He also paid tribute to the leaders and workers of the Pakistan Movement for their courage, dedication and sacrifices.

Mr. Dar said Pakistan had made significant progress over the past eight decades in fields including education, science and technology, economic development, sports and culture. He described Pakistan as a resilient nation of more than 250 million people, united by a shared history, heritage and common aspirations.

The deputy prime minister said Pakistan had also strengthened its position internationally through expanding diplomatic engagement, economic and connectivity partnerships, as well as defence and security cooperation.

Highlighting recent diplomatic developments, he referred to the Makkah Accord signed with Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, describing it as a landmark agreement reflecting a shared commitment to deeper strategic cooperation, collective security and addressing regional and international peace and security challenges.

He also recalled the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, saying it reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity while remaining committed to international law, responsible statecraft and regional peace.

Ishaq Dar paid special tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, police and paramilitary forces, praising their courage and professionalism and acknowledging the sacrifices made in defending the country and maintaining peace and stability.

On regional security, the DPM/FM said recent events had highlighted the need for peaceful resolution of longstanding disputes, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“Pakistan has always stood for peace, dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect among nations,” Dar said, reiterating that Islamabad would continue to pursue these principles.

The deputy prime minister called on the nation to draw inspiration from the ideals behind the creation of Pakistan and reaffirm its resolve to strengthen institutions, preserve national unity and harness the potential of the Pakistani people.

He expressed the hope that these efforts would help build a stronger, more prosperous and peaceful Pakistan for future generations.
