DEMP organizes painting competition to mark Pakistan’s 80th independence anniversary

ISLAMABAD, Aug 13 (APP): The Directorate of Electronic Media & Publications (DEMP), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday organized a painting competition mark Pakistan’s 80th Independence Anniversary, held here at the Information Services Academy (ISA), Islamabad.

The event featured a painting competition, visual displays and screening of a special documentary produced by DEMP, highlighting Pakistan’s history, national identity, achievements and journey since independence.

In her welcome remarks, Executive Director General, DEMP, Imrana Wazir, welcomed the chief guest, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, senior officers, officials, media representatives and participating students. She highlighted the significance of Independence Day as an occasion to remember the historic struggle and sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan. She also appreciated the participation of students in the painting competition, noting that their creative expressions reflected their perspectives, hopes and aspirations for Pakistan.

Addressing the ceremony, the Federal Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said that Marka-e-Haq and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement are a testament to Pakistan’s resilience, confidence in its sovereignty and commitment to regional peace and stability.

He emphasized the responsibility of the Ministry and its attached departments in preserving Pakistan’s national memory and communicating its history, culture, identity and achievements through photographs, publications, films, documentaries and exhibitions.

Appreciating DEMP’s contribution in this regard, the Secretary observed that the material documented and presented through such initiatives would serve as a valuable record for future generations and help preserve the national story for posterity.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the National Anthem. A special documentary, “Pakistan: The Journey Continues,” produced by DEMP, was screened, highlighting significant milestones, achievements and the journey of Pakistan since its creation.

A national song produced by DEMP and sung by renowned singer Sahir Ali Bagga was played on the occasion.

The paintings displayed on the occasion were received and selected by DEMP through a painting competition in which students from various educational institutions expressed their thoughts and perspectives on Pakistan through art. Tanzila Shahid secured first position, whereas Ayesha Zahid stood second, Eman Akbar third, and Christina Jhon secured fourth position.

The consolation awards were presented to Arda Haris, Umm-e-Hani, Yousma Nadeem, Wahab Qureshi and Safa Asif.

The Secretary distributed certificates and awards among the winners and the participants.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, reaffirming the spirit of Unity, Faith and Discipline  and the collective commitment to building a stronger, peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
