QUETTA, Aug 12 (APP):Director General (DG) of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Moinur Rehman Khan on Wednesday said that the Gwadar Safe City (GSC) project would play an important role in developing the city’s security infrastructure on modern lines as well as creating a conducive environment for investment, trade and development activities in Gwadar.
He said this while talking to Project Director Gwadar Safe City Dr. Asif Khan Bareach called on him at his office. Chief Engineer GDA Haji Syed Muhammad was also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, Project Director Safe City briefed the Director General GDA about the progress made so far on the project, the ongoing construction work and the future phases.
He said that the work on the project is progressing at a fast pace and the work of underground cabling and installation of poles for the installation of modern security cameras at various important, sensitive and busy locations of the city has been almost completed, while the process of installing modern cameras would be started in the next phase.
He further said that work is also progressing rapidly on the construction of the central complex and command and control center of the Safe City project.
After the completion of the central control center, the cameras installed at different locations in the city would be connected to the central system through an integrated digital network, as a result of which an effective and round-the-clock surveillance system could be established in Gwadar with the help of modern technology.
On this occasion, Director General Gwadar Development Authority Moinur Rehman Khan said that Gwadar is an important emerging center for Pakistan’s economic future and global investment, where the eyes of investors and businesses from all over the world are focused.
He said that in such a situation, providing a safe environment for citizens, investors, foreign experts, businessmen and tourists is indispensable.
He said that the Gwadar Safe City project would play an important role in developing the city’s security infrastructure on modern lines as well as creating a conducive environment for investment, trade and development activities in Gwadar.
He said that timely completion of the project is among the priorities of GDA and in this regard, the relevant departments have been directed to further accelerate the pace of work.
