CM Balochistan orders probe into 20 years of Gwadar development resources, directs local hiring transparency

GWADAR, Aug 12 (APP):Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has ordered a thorough review of development resources utilized in Gwadar over the past two decades, directing the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) to investigate complaints regarding the appointment of non-local individuals to Grade-IV posts. He emphasized that no one’s rightful share will be denied and strict adherence to merit, transparency, and district quotas will be ensured.

Upon his arrival in Gwadar, administrative officials welcomed the Chief Minister, while a police contingent presented a guard of honor. Later, Sarfraz Bugti met with representatives of All Parties Gwadar and local political stakeholders to discuss public issues, basic facilities, employment opportunities, and regional concerns.

During the meeting, political representatives demanded provision of civic amenities, job opportunities for local youth, and the holding of recruitment tests and interviews for Grade-IV posts at the district level. Responding to these demands, the Chief Minister issued directives that all such tests across Balochistan districts be conducted locally to safeguard the rights of residents.

Sarfraz Bugti also took notice of complaints regarding the appointment of non-locals in Grade-IV positions within the Fisheries and Forest Departments of Gwadar, instructing CMIT to conduct transparent investigations and submit a fact-based report. He warned that any proven violations of rules would result in legal action against those responsible.

Highlighting Gwadar’s strategic importance, Sarfraz Bugti stressed that development must first benefit the local population. He said Gwadar’s progress is not limited to large infrastructure projects but must also include access to essential services such as education, healthcare, clean water, and employment. He announced that the government will examine records of the past 20 years to assess how resources were spent and what tangible impact they had on citizens’ lives, ensuring future planning aligns with ground realities and public needs.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government will continue consultations with political parties, elected representatives, district administration, and local stakeholders to resolve public grievances. He affirmed that genuine complaints and demands will not be ignored but addressed through practical measures.

The meeting was attended by Member National Assembly Malik Shah Gorgij, MPA Gwadar Molana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, provincial ministers Mir Zia Langau and Sardar Faisal Khan Jamali, tribal and political leader Mir Sajid Dashti, Principal Secretary Imran Zarkoon, Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Naqeebullah Kakar, and other senior officials.
