RAWALPINDI, Aug 11 (APP):City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have devised a comprehensive traffic plan for the Chehlum procession of the martyrs of Karbala, scheduled to be held from Peshawar Road on Wednesday.
The traffic plan has been formulated to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city during the procession.
More than 250 traffic police officers and personnel will perform special duties during the Chehlum procession at Chohar Chowk, while additional personnel have been deployed along alternative routes to ensure smooth movement of traffic.
According to the traffic plan, Peshawar Road will remain completely closed from Chairing Cross to Pirwadhai Mor from the start until the conclusion of the procession.
During the closure, traffic heading from Saddar towards Peshawar will be diverted at Chairing Cross via Westridge Road, Atta-ul-Haq Road, Najam Shaheed Road, Westridge-3 Road, APS School and Marble Factory towards IJP Road.
Traffic coming from Peshawar towards Saddar will be diverted from Pirwadhai Road via IJP Road, Carriage Factory Road, Ganjmandi Mor, Bakery Chowk, Roomi Road, Transit Camp and Ikram-ul-Haq Road towards Saddar.
Range Road from Chohar Chowk will remain completely closed to traffic.
Traffic coming from Misrial Road towards Chohar Chowk will be diverted via Range Road towards its destination.
Hali Road will also remain closed from Chohar Chowk to Najam Shaheed Chowk.
Traffic moving from Marble Factory Road towards Chohar Chowk will be diverted from Najam Shaheed Chowk (Tanky Chowk) towards Westridge Road.
Allahabad Road will remain completely closed from Ashiana Chowk to Progressive School. Traffic coming from Westridge Bazaar towards Ashiana Chowk will be diverted towards Marble Factory Road and Westridge-3 Road.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam directed all officers and personnel to ensure strict implementation of the traffic plan throughout the Chehlum procession. He said that any negligence or carelessness in this regard would not be tolerated.
The CTO also appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on Peshawar Road during the procession and cooperate with traffic police personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety
